It's this awesome community reuse project. They have everything from fabric to old slides to carpet samples. I scored some awesome blue corduroy fabric there, along with some patterns and some paper that is like a giant sticker. You can peel the back off and stick it to stuff. I'm going to use that for stencils.

Anyway, back to the corduroy.
I'm in desperate need of a winter jacket, I've been FREEZING lately. I've noticed a bunch of cute double breasted jackets circulating around, so I decided to make me one.
I used a New Look blouse pattern (number 6732) and I altered it to create the bodice. It didn't work out very well. The darts gave me a mess of trouble, and they still aren't picture perfect, but eh. No one will notice but me. The collar and collar stand also came from that New Look pattern. I used the collar from look A, but rounded the edges to make it a peter pan collar. I like it.

Pictures of the work in progress!
My camera is awful. There are always those adds in them for sewing patterns and things. I found one that was basically a high waisted pencil skirt with suspender things, so I made my own. Pattern by me. It's the first time I've actually draped something. It was interesting.

Now I have to decided when I'm going to wear this thing. On top of all this, decided to make a jumper. As soon as I get my camera cord back from J.J. I'll post pictures of that.

But for now, the shirts I screened that I'm really really kind of proud of but at the same thing I think kids will be disappointed in. But I didn't want to blow all my weekly allowence on one and a half yards of fabric at Joannes. Instead I went to walmart and found three lovely stretch knits in their $1 bin, along with some fabric to make a pencil skirt and a dress shirt out of. Earlier this month I had gone to an estate sale and filled a garbage bag full of lovely stretch fabric and other odds and ends (including a loom) for just $5. It's been a good deal month.

These two tops were made from the fabric I found in the walmart $1 fabric bin:

Super soft, super comfortable. It's probobly one of my favorite shirts. There is one little button at the bottom of the v-neck that I found in my button stash. It fit so perfectly there!

Details-
V-neck
Button detail
Short Sleeves

Also super soft and super comfortable. I've been drolling over this swing dress from the 1950s over the past couple of weeks, so I decided I would take the bodice of that dress and make it into a top. It turned out almost exactly like I had planned. I only wish that the should bit above the gathered bust was square instead of slanted. Then this top would have been a dead ringer for the dress I'm in love with.

Details-
V-neck
3/4 sleeves
Gathered bust detail

This is a top I made out of some of the Estate sale fabric:

At first I was going for a 1940s halter, then I realized I wouldn't be able to wear that to school. So I compromised with myself and came out with this.
