Blue Corduroy Jacket, the finished product

Ta-da!
I lined it with this warm fleece.
Only I made the lining too small, so after I had sewn it in the fleece made the corduroy bunch up on top and lay wierd, so I had to cut parts of it out. The inside isn't very pretty, but it functions.

I might take more pictures when it's light outside and flash won't make the buttons look like tiny red UFOs. Maybe.

The Blue Corduroy Jacket, a work in progress

So last weekend J.J. and I went on a trip to Scrap in Portland. It's this awesome community reuse project. They have everything from fabric to old slides to carpet samples. I scored some awesome blue corduroy fabric there, along with some patterns and some paper that is like a giant sticker. You can peel the back off and stick it to stuff. I'm going to use that for stencils.

Anyway, back to the corduroy.
I'm in desperate need of a winter jacket, I've been FREEZING lately. I've noticed a bunch of cute double breasted jackets circulating around, so I decided to make me one.
I used a New Look blouse pattern (number 6732) and I altered it to create the bodice. It didn't work out very well. The darts gave me a mess of trouble, and they still aren't picture perfect, but eh. No one will notice but me. The collar and collar stand also came from that New Look pattern. I used the collar from look A, but rounded the edges to make it a peter pan collar. I like it.

Pictures of the work in progress!
My camera is awful. I know.:)

The Jumper!

Okay.
So I went downtown with Lexxie and ended up scoring some free knitting magazines from the late 1950s. There are always those adds in them for sewing patterns and things. I found one that was basically a high waisted pencil skirt with suspender things, so I made my own. Pattern by me. It's the first time I've actually draped something. It was interesting.

Now I have to decided when I'm going to wear this thing. Next weekend is a debate competition, but I don't know if I should wear it for LD or Oratory! Epp!

How do I get myself into these messes?

So instead of having a totally commitment free break and being lovely and happy and carefree I decided to commit to everything I could find!
I painted two huge backdrops for my dad's church's Christmas play (these things were 12x16feet), decide to debate at Puget Sound next weekend so I had to write my cases this week to insure my spot, and screen 24 shirts for the EHS environmental club! w00t, go me. On top of all this, decided to make a jumper. As soon as I get my camera cord back from J.J. I'll post pictures of that.

But for now, the shirts I screened that I'm really really kind of proud of but at the same thing I think kids will be disappointed in. I did them all by hand with a cheap screen-like-printing-method I found on livejournal forever ago. Here's the link to that: http://community.livejournal.com/craftgrrl/3674467.html

Now, I present to you free tshirts for the environmental club!
